Double Storm Doors

Durable, stylish protection for double entry systems — professionally installed storm doors built for year-round defense.

What Are Double Storm Doors?

A double storm door includes two independently operated panels within a shared frame. These panels — often full-view, screened, or interchangeable — are secured with individual closers and stabilized by a central astragal. This system is common in regions with strong seasonal variation and is ideal for extending the life of wood or decorative main doors.

Structure and Materials

Each panel features tempered glass, removable or self-storing screens, and hardware-grade closers and locks. Frames are most often made from anodized aluminum, offering corrosion resistance and low maintenance.

The Installation Process

We measure the opening precisely (typically 68–72" wide) and verify frame integrity. A Z-bar frame is mounted squarely around the opening, followed by threshold work and careful panel alignment.

Avoiding Common Mistakes

We avoid painted aluminum in favor of anodized material and only install over inward-swinging main doors. Astragal misalignment or poorly chosen thresholds are common issues we prevent with expertise.
